Animated Documents from Rising of Lusitania – AnimaDoc Film Festival
The history of animated documentary (animadoc) started 100 years ago, along with the premiere of Winsor McCay’s propaganda movie The Sinking of the Lusitania (1918). Since that time, in every decade we have examples of what for some is still controversial, and for the other – inspiring and very fascinating – the combination of the seemingly contradictive terms: animation and documentary. In recent years, animadoc has become very popular, which can be confirmed by the emergence of a festival dedicated exclusively to this genre: Rising of Lusitania – AnimaDoc Film Festival in Liverpool.
